Finally Made it Through Opening!

First let me say I know I was supposed to blog a couple of weeks ago, but somehow I got blogging duty during tech week, and let's just say I spent my free time that week sleeping! There were long days and nights, but it was worth it. Cast 2's preview performance on April 23 went swimmingly... Oh yeah, I'm Alexia, "Michelle" in Cast 2. My character takes a hard line on freedom of speech -- she's against it. Unfortunately for her, she picks the wrong people to have dinner with! I don't want to give anything away, so let me just say that Michelle is a real pain in the neck. Or back.

Although I have the smallest part (linewise) in the show, I play a big role backstage, helping to get those dinners on the table. Actors can be so picky! "If we have to eat the food, it should be edible!" I mean, divas, right? No, really, we can't have them chewing on old wilted lettuce up there, so there's some real behind-the-scenes magic going on, well, behind the scenes. It's a real challenge for an indie performance with no kitchen, but with an electric skillet and a dream, we've made it work. The testament to that fact is that neither review so far has even mentioned the props -- if they notice them, you're doing something wrong!

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting back on stage next Wednesday, for Cast 2's first post-previews performance. Hope you can make it!
